Metro supermarkets have gone ahead with further expansion with the acquisition of the former Orphanides supermarket in Paralmni, now their sixth supermarket.
Marketing manager Melina Skordelli told The Cyprus Daily this is the group’s final expansion bid and follows the recent acquisition of the Orphanides supermarket in Moutayiaka, Limassol.
With the new deal, the group aims to operate supermarkets where they did not have a presence in the past.
“We expect that the Paralimni supermarket will open in April,” Skordelli said.
Orphanides administrators have through two rounds of tenders sold five supermarkets so far. Three supermarkets were sold to AlfaMega ( Larnaca, Kolossi and Skarinou) and two to Metro.
