NICOSIA - An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) chairman Stathis Kittis and three other officials in connection with an ongoing property fraud investigation.
Police confirmed the arrest warrant for Kittis was issued based on information provided to the authorities by president of Larnaca football club ALKI Nicos Lillis who was arrested on August 26 and scheduled to stand trial on property fraud charges.
The other men being sought by police are Orestis Vasiliou, Yiannis Souroullas and Gregoris Souroullas.
An investigative committee was appointed in June to probe allegations that a Turkish Cypriot owned property in Dromolaxia had been fraudulently purchased by a Greek Cypriot businessman and later sold to the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CyTA) Pension Fund.
Officials from the Cyprus Intelligence Agency (KYP) are also under investigation on suspicion that they forged documentation to facilitate the multi-million illegal land purchase in Larnaca.
