BRUSSELS - European Council President Herman Van Rompuy will visit Cyprus on Tuesday, it was announced yesterday in Brussels.
He is the first top EU official to visit the island since the Eurogroup’s harsh economic bailout decision in March.
Talks between Rompuy and President Anastasiades will focus on the economy, said informed sources in the Belgian capital.
An exchange of views in preparation of the upcoming European Council in Brussels on October 24-25 is also on the agenda.
Moreover, the EU official will be briefed on the state of play as regards the imminent resumption of Cyprus peace talks aiming to reunite the island.
