NICOSIA - The Greek Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons Friday appealed for information on burial sites of missing persons – Greek and Turkish Cypriot.
The appeal came one day after two visiting British MPs called for efforts to trace the fate of missing persons in both communities to intensify.
Theophilos V. Theophilou said in a written statement: “I appeal to all those who know or have information about the burial sites of missing persons, Turkish Cypriot or Greek Cypriot, missing and known dead, during the 1963-64 period and/or in 1974 to share with us this information and bring to the attention of the competent authorities any evidence that they may have”.
He also said: “The time limits for the investigation of the fate of all missing persons have been narrowed and are being exhausted. We have to open the burial sites now in order to close the wounds.”
