NICOSIA - The President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy is paying a visit to Cyprus, where he will discuss the Cyprus issue and economy with President Nicos Anastasiades.
According to an official announcement, Rompuy, accompanied by his spouse, will arrive in Cyprus Monday evening. On Tuesday morning, he will meet with President Anastasiades and their tête-à-tête meeting will be followed by consultations between the two sides’ delegations.
It is added that they will discuss developments concerning the Cyprus issue, the state of the island’s economy and that of Eurozone members, matters to be discussed at the next EU Summit other regional issues.
The Cyprus delegation will consist, among others, of the Foreign Minister, the Government Spokesman, the Undersecretary to the President and the Permanent representative to the EU.
Anastasiades and Rompuy are expected to talk to the press afterwards, while the President of the European Council will address afterwards the University of Cyprus.
At noon, the President of the Republic will host an official lunch in honor of Rompuy and his spouse. The European Council President and his delegation will depart from Cyprus later in the evening.
