NICOSIA - More than 100 cameras have been installed at the Central Bank, some years ago, but others just last weekend, angering staff who were never informed and prompting an investigation by the Personal Data Protection Commissioner.
The cameras are on all floors and reports say they cover the movements of Bank staff throughout the building. CYBC says the images were available to the Governor's guards even on their mobile phones..
Data protection officials visited the bank yesterday and the Commissioner will announce the outcome of his proble Thursday.
He said it was illegal for an employer to install cameras without informing staff and that their aim was safety and not monitoring of employees.
