Cyprus marked Ochi day yesterday with student parades and morning masses across the island.
President Anastasiades took the salute at the Ochi day parade in front of the Greek Embassy in Nicosia, together with Greek Ambassador Vasilis Papaionanou.
Students from across the island marched past with banners flying.
At 10am there was a mass at the Ayios Ioannis Cathedral in Nicosia, in the presence of President Anastasiades and Archbishop Chrysostomos.
House President Yiannakis Omirou said that Cyprus needs to provide convincing answers to recover the autonomy of the political system and is in need of a new government model that will regulate a modern, decentralised, friendly and effective public sector.
