LARNACA - The number of people seeking food from Larnaca’s soup kitchen is continuing to rise.
According to the soup kitchen’s supervisor, five to ten new people per day have over the last few days been applying to eat there, Phileleftheros reported, including four families with three or more children.
The soup kitchen provides meals for 800 people five fays a week, an increase of 100 individuals since October.
A similar increase has also been reported at Larnaca’s food bank.
Commenting on the situation, Larnaca Mayor Andreas Louroutziatis said that dozens of new applications for help had been made, on top of the over 500 families already being helped.
