The Labour Ministry has warned unemployed Cypriots to be particularly careful when taking up job places overseas.
In an announcement on Friday, the Ministry said that it had become aware that Cypriots were being exploited overseas and particularly in non-EU countries. This exploitation, according to the ministry, was connected to salaries and working hours.
“For this reason, people who intend to take up employment in countries outside the EU should be aware of the labour laws of the country they will be working in, even if the company they will be working for is registered in Cyprus or another EU country,” the Labour Ministry said.
It advised would be employees to get all the information regarding their rights and obligations in the country from their future employers in advance.
