A British woman is being treated at Nicosia General Hospital after sustaining severe burns when a fire broke out at her Peyia home.
The 46 year-old woman’s two children, aged six and nine, are being given precautionary treatment at Paphos General Hospital.
According to the Fire Service, the fire broke out in a bedroom of the house at 6.30pm Monday. Due to the Fire Service’s swift arrival it did not spread but the woman suffered third degree burns to 50% of her body and, because of the seriousness of her condition, taken to Nicosia General Hospital.
It is understood that the children’s father is dead, having been killed in a traffic accident.
According to the police, investigations into the cause of the blaze will continue today, Tuesday.
