Two men from Bangladesh were on Tuesday remanded for three days in custody by Famagusta District Court after police allegedly found a stockpile of stolen goods in their possession.
According to the authorities, the suspects, aged 24 and 25, were arrested in the centre of Ayia Napa on Monday evening as they attempted to illegally sell electronic items to passing members of the public. Officers proceeded to search the suspects’ flat where they found an i-pad, several pairs of designer sunglasses, men’s wristwatches, mobile phones, digital cameras and several gold chains and coins.
During police questioning the men made several claims over how they acquired the goods which police found unsatisfactory and are currently investigating.
