PAPHOS – Ancient clay water pipes at the eastern side of the recently inaugurated King’s Avenue Mall in coastal Paphos have been discovered, the Antiquities Department said in an announcement on Saturday.
They are probably part of artificial water channels from different directions of neighboring hills that ended up in wells found in the heart of the commercial centre.
“These wells were probably placed in large buildings and possibly were large public baths,” it also said.
“One of the four wells that was dug out has an internal length of 9.40 metres and its width is 7.50 metres. Its walls are quite strong. And its height is about 1.65 metres,” it added.
