The Cyprus Green Party is sponsoring a youth tree planting initiative called ‘Make Cyprus Green’.
According to the announcement, young people under the age of 30 are invited to take part in the scheme for which they will be paid €2 for every tree they plant.
“The project forms part of the greens national tree planting initiative which started in 2011 and aims to see 8960 planted around the island by May 2016. This is an ambitious environmental goal that we can accomplish together.”
Local municipalities and a number of organisations and associations will also be taking part in the initiative.
“During the current economic troubles, poverty and despair our country is facing planting a tree is like planting a seed of hope,” added the announcement.
