LIMASSOL - A man suspected of raping his own teenage daughter was in police custody on Thursday after two days on the run.
The man, whose picture was released by police after disappearing, was reportedly found hiding in the Alassa area, close to Kouris Dam. The 53-year-old was immediately taken into custody at Limassol CID and is due to appear before a Limassol District Court on Friday where investigators will request from a judge to keep him in remand as investigations continue.
The 18-year-old girl had been living with a foster family for several years and only recently moved back in with her father.
“The victim claims she was sexually assaulted on the first night she moved back in with her father,” commented Limassol police spokesman Yiannis Soteriades.
She was examined by a state pathologist who confirmed there were signs of a sexual assault.
