NICOSIA - Cabinet has approved an amendment to the law for the automatic registration in the special election registry of all citizens of the Republic of Cyprus residing in the Turkish-occupied areas of the Republic, who have the right to vote and are holders of an ID issued by the Republic.
Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides said this decision has to do with the equal participation of Turkish Cypriots in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
Furthermore, the Council of Ministers approved an amendment to the Civil Registry law, providing for the automatic registration of all those who acquire the right to vote.
