PAPHOS – A teenager was arrested in connection with a violent street mugging during the early hours of Saturday.
According to the authorities, police received a report at 3.35am that a man had been injured and robbed during an assault in the Kato Paphos tourist area.
Officers rushed to the scene and found a 22-year-old Belgian man who said he had been attacked and robbed of his mobile phone.
A short time later and based on the victim’s description, police arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the mugging. A wrist watch and two mobile phones were found in his possession. The teen claims he found the items in the street and denies involvement in the assault.
The victim is being treated in hospital for minor injuries.
