LIMASSOL - Police are investigating a home invasion during the early hours of Tuesday in which an elderly couple was held hostage and robbed by two thugs.
According to authorities, the couple, both aged 70, were woken up in the middle of the night after hearing rummaging in their Kato Polemidia home. They got up to investigate and were confronted by two hooded men armed with crowbars who threatened to harm them unless they handed over cash.
The pensioners gave the perpetrators €310 before the men fled the scene. Police said the burglars got into the house by forcing open the aluminium front door.
