PAPHOS – Police on Wednesday are investigating the robbery and abduction of a 78 year old Cypriot man, owner and manager of a complex of flats.
Four people, possibly of Arab origin, tied him and gagged him, grabbed the keys of his car and several apartments and disappeared.
The incident took place in the centre of Paphos, on Griva Dighenis Avenue at 6.30 pm on Tuesday.
The 78 year old said he had arranged to meet two non-Cypriots to show them a flat there. As soon as they entered the flat, another two pounced on the 78 year old and immobilised him, tying him with a rope and gagging him with the tie he was wearing. They then took €2000 he had in his wallet, his mobile telephone and the keys of several flats and made off. He managed to free himself in half an hour and alerted the police.
He was given first aid at Paphos hospital and released.
