NICOSIA – Political party leaders agreed on Thursday to extend the road tax deadline until the first week of March to give drivers more time.
The deadline is February 9. So far some 50% of drivers have renewed their road tax.
The extension will go to an emergency vote at the House plenary later on Thursday.
The proposal was submitted by Akel and endorsed by the other parliamentary parties.
Akel’s parliamentary spokesman Yiannos Lamaris said that the proposal was submitted because of the delay in the payment of benefits to beneficiaries.
