NICOSIA - A total of 19 organisations and of mainly left-leaning unions will march in demonstration against Troika-imposed austerity measures at 10am today.
According to a joint announcement released yesterday by all participating organisations including workers, teachers and student unions, protestors will gather outside the Finance Ministry for speeches and then encircle the Finance and Labour Ministries, as well as the Co-operative Central Bank to show their frustration regarding the consequences of the financial crisis and particularly rising unemployment and poverty levels.
The Journalists Union yesterday announced their participation in the demonstration with placards in Greek and English to send the message that “We are not numbers – We are people with dignity”.
