Ayia Napa unveils its Love Bridge on Friday, Valentine's Day, encouraging lovers from around the island to visit and attach padlocks to the recently built bridge and then throw the keys in the sea swearing eternal love.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at 4pm at the Love Bridge, in the Mavrokorona coast area, east of Ayia Napa.
The municipality said that they decided to built the bridge following numerous expressions of love in the area by mostly newlywed couples.
"Many couples have been visiting the area over the years carving their names, or leaving flowers or padlocks at the area to mark their love," said the municipality.
The bridge will be inaugurated by Ayia Napa Mayor Yiannis Karousos.
With his wife Maria, Karousos will attach to the bridge a padlock with their names encouraging young couples to also swear eternal love by then throwing the keys in the sea which is a few metres from the bridge.
