LARNACA - The Larnaca Assizes said on Thursday that there is a prima facie case of murder in the trial of a 35-year-old man accused of killing a taxi driver in a drive by shooting in Ayia Napa.
Judge Nicos Santis called on defendant George Andreou, 35, accused of gunning down taxi driver Pantelis Antoniou Ropas, 66, in the centre of Ayia Napa on October 8, 2013, to answer to charges.
The defendant’s lawyer said his client refuses to be cross-examined but will call on witnesses to speak in his defence.
The hearing also heard testimony from a state psychologist who said he believes the defendant is psychologically fit to stand trial. The trial is set to continue on February 18.
