NICOSIA - An internal investigation has been launched against the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications regarding the alleged illegal registry of vehicles at the Road Transport Department (RTD).
According to a ministry announcement on Thursday, the probe was launched following a complaint against the Permanent Secretary.
“We are at the very early stages of this investigation but at first glance the complaint appears to be unfounded.”
Ministry officials are currently examining car registry documentation at the RTD to determine whether any offences have been committed.
“Once the data has been examined the Attorney General and police will be notified. This is expected to take place next week.”
