NICOSIA – Uninterrupted power supply was restored around 11 am on Friday after Electricity Authority trade unions received assurances from Diko president Nicolas Papadopoulos would have a say in the privatisation bill.
He chairs the House Finance Committee which meets on Monday to begin discussion of the controversial bill.
Earlier on Friday, Papadopoulos issued a public appeal urging unions not to deprive Cypriots of electricity.
Rolling power cuts had started at 7.10 am on Friday as the Transmission Systems Operator scrambled to manage limited power supply because of the 12 hour strike by Electricity Authority staff.
