LARNACA- A flight from Athens to Larnaca was forced to land at Paphos Airport on Friday due to adverse weather conditions in Larnaca.
The Aegean flight had been due to land at 3.40pm but was forced to change course for Paphos due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Extreme weather battered the Larnaca district on Friday afternoon with strong winds, torrential rain and hail storms. Several of the town’s streets flooded making driving difficult and in some cases impossible.
The Fire Service reported that it had been called out to 10 locations in Larnaca to pump water from flooded roads and buildings and free people who had been trapped in their cars. They were also asked to assist in stabilising a large sign outside a supermarket after it became loose endangering passers by.
