The poverty line for pensioners with low incomes who live on their own starts at €10,324 annually, and depending on how many people live in the same household, can rise to €15,486 for two people, said the Finance Ministry.
Payments of the allowance will be made at the end of the month for those who applied in January and those whose applications were examined by February 7, 2014 and meet the relevant criteria.
All who receive allowances and have dependent children studying at university, soldiers or children who are unable to take care of themselves should submit the relevant papers with ID details and an application.
Applications will only be accepted by those who fulfill the relevant criteria and did not submit an application in 2013. Also by those who received income in 2013 from undeclared work or other sources, such as rent, pension from abroad, pension from a work scheme in Cyprus, interest/shares, Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation.
Applications can also be submitted by new pensioners who will receive their first pension within the first six months of 2014. Only one application should be submitted per household. The deadline is April 30, 2014. > The current plan will continue to apply until the new Guaranteed minimum income (GMI) plan takes effect.
