Nicosia Municipality will be upgrading public car parks in the capital with automated gates, ticket dispensers and space counter display screens.
According to an announcement issued yesterday, automated gates will be installed in the D'Avila, Tripoli, Ledra, Ariadnes and Phaneromeni car parks to improve security.
Once the upgrades are complete drivers will be required to pick up a ticket from a dispenser at the entrance which they will punch in on exit before paying the fee.
The car park upgrades come as part of the European Union project E-Park which aims to implement pioneering systems that automate and simplify the procedures relating to the use and management of various categories of parking areas.
Old Nicosia residents will be able to purchase monthly passes for €30 while motorists living outside of the walls will need to pay €40 for a monthly pass.
