Cabinet is setting in motion procedures for the drafting of a comprehensive development plan for Troodos, deputy government spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos said on Thursday.
As a first step, and pending completion of the plan, priority will go to developing Troodos Square, the government residences in the area, Amiandos mines as well as state assets, in cooperation with the private sector.
Tenders will be called for investors here and abroad interested in submitting proposals for development projects based on a long term lease.
A ministerial committee has been set up made up of the ministers of agriculture, finance, interior and communications and the undersecretary to the president to implement a development model for the area, he added.
