PAPHOS - President Anastasiades' decision to go ahead with the peace talks with Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu had cancelled the pre-election deal made with Diko, the party’s l;eader Nicolas Papadopoulos said Sunday.
In statements after a memorial service in Paphos, said that the President, through his actions and behaviour had not abided by the commitment to the joint management of the national problem but instead unilaterally chose to make decisions that endangered the survival of Cypriot Hellenism.
For such a serious issue, he continued, "we expect at least there should be a joint formulation of policy " but the President chose to split forces that had been united .
This was why the Executive of the Democratic Party had taken the decision to urge the Central Committee of the party to withdraw from the government.
