PAPHOS - Paphos police are investigating the apparent drowning of a 52-year-old Bulgarian man.
According to police spokesman Nicos Tsappis, a fisherman on Tombs of the Kings sea area in Kato Paphos spotted Georgi Georgiev floating unconscious in the water at around 12am yesterday and alerted the police.
The man was pulled from the sea by divers and Port Police officers.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Paphos General Hospital.
No injuries were found on the man’s body and Tsappis said that to date, investigations show that no criminal activity was involved in the drowning.
Georgiev who was a Paphos resident was wearing a diving suit when he was found. It appears that he drowned while spear fishing.
Tsappis said an autopsy is scheduled today to determine the exact cause death.
