President Anastasiades has expressed the belief that with the will and the determination of the people of Cyprus the miracle of economic recovery will occur.
Addressing an event in the village of Pelendri in the Limassol District, President Anastasiades said that without a doubt Cyprus is going through tough times, noting at the same time that “we are on the right track”.
He said international rating agencies, media and creditors give Cyprus positive marks in the implementation of its financial adjustment programme agreed with the Troika, adding that, although “the road ahead is still long and difficult, we will come to the end of it successfully”.
The President expressed the belief that with the will and determination of the people of Cyprus, the great miracle of reconstructing and restarting the economy and creating the conditions that will allow the Cypriots to live proudly as in the past will happen.
“We will win this fight and bring the people back to the level they deserve,” he concluded.
The Cypriot authorities and the Troika (EC, ECB and the IMF) agreed last March on a €10b bailout, featuring a haircut of uninsured deposits. So far Cyprus has received three positive reviews on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, covering the conditions of the financial assistance.
