LIMASSOL–The twon's port workers are going on a 24-hour strike on Thursday to protest against the cuts to their overtime and night shift benefits.
Wednesday’s decision was announced by union leaders after a mediation proposal was turned down.
A day earlier employees at the Cyprus Ports Authority had ended their strike action in light of negotiations with the administration to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
Employees at Larnaca and Limassol ports have been abstaining from overtime work since February 15 to protest against the cuts, causing numerous problems in trading as ships are left docked in the ports over the weekend.
