Some 20 construction workers from Bulgaria and Romania staged a protest in Paphos on Tuesday complaining that they have not been paid their wages.
They said that they came to Cyprus in hope they would find better working conditions however fell victim to fraud since they have not been paid for their work.
They said their employer has disappeared while their families are now starving.
Their employer should have paid them the total amount of €13,000 to cover the salaries of about 20 employees.
The protest was peaceful and the case is being dealt with by the Labour Relations Regional Office in Paphos.
An official at the office of Labour Relations in Paphos, Efi Iacovou, told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that workers submitted their complaints on Tuesday and they are being investigated.
