Larnaca municipality in collaboration with the Forestry Department have announced they will be taking measures to deal with the influx of mosquitoes in the town.
They will start aerial mosquito spraying from Wednesday, to tackle the mosquito menace in the area from the salt lakes near the Kamares area to the Bird Observatory near Pattichion Municipal Amphitheatre.  The municipality has the approval of the Environment Department of the Agriculture Ministry and the Health Services.
According to a Larnaca municipality announcement, aerial spraying will take place between 6.30am and 9.30am at a low altitude using biological products. The municipality reassured that only environmentally-friendly sprays which have no adverse affects on human health whatsoever will be used to eradicate mosquitoes.
For the spraying, a yellow aircraft from the Cyprus Forestry Department-Flight Unit, type "Air Tractor 802" and registration number FD-1 will be used.
During the spraying, the nature trail at the Larnaca salt lake -  from Kamares to the Aliki army camp - will be closed to the public. Local residents are called to cooperate with the authorities in order to collectively help tackle the mosquito problem.
