Sail First, a Russian company that promotes marine tourism and deals with the organisation of sailing and other events will next month bring to Cyprus a number of important Russian personalities from the social, economic and business world to Latchi.
The events will include sailing competitions co-organised with Polis Chrysochous' municipality. Within this framework, the Russian sailing team will also be in Latchi to train for the Olympics. Speaking during a press conference organised by the municipality and Sail First, Polis Chrysochous' Mayor Angelos Odysseos said that it was very important that Latchi was chosen as a base for the Russian sailing team's preparations for the Olympics.
He added that the events organised by Sail First in the area will also significantly contribute to raising the town's profile. Sail First Cyprus office Managing Director, Michael Nicholas expressed satisfaction with the company's collaboration with local authorities of Paphos and Polis.
He added however, that even though Sail First understands the difficulties faced by the state in the current financial climate, it expects from the relevant authorities and departments, such as the Port Authority, to demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in order to speed up promotion of the various issues concerning the improvement of the island's tourist product regarding marine activities.
To this end, within the next few days a meeting will take place between Polis Chrysochous Mayor, Sail First director and the chairman of the Port to discuss and tackle pending issues and demands of Paphos authorities. Odysseos said these include increase of available space in Kato Paphos port and in Latchi for the company's tourist and sports activities
