Larnaca resident Leoni Pitman and Nicola Wright from Dhekelia will be 'taking the plunge' on Sunday with a skydive in aid of two registered charities - Shelter Box and SSAFA.
The two ladies are both leaders with 48th Dhekelia Scout Troop. Leoni is Akela for the 48th Dhekelia Cub Pack, and Nicola is Brown Beaver for the 48th Dhekelia Beaver Colony.
It is the first time that 57-year-old Leoni is attempting a skydive and she has mixed feelings about the challenge.
"I had the opportunity to do a skydive many years ago, but couldn't get the time off from work, so when it was suggested that we do one to raise funds for charity I jumped at the chance, excuse the pun!
"I'm feeling quite calm at the moment, but I expect on the day it will dawn on me that I actually have to go through with it.
"I'm always up for a challenge, so I will just get on and do it and enjoy it at the same time."
Nicola - age 30- echoes the feeling: "This is our second tour of Cyprus; my husband Terry is with the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. I've always wanted to do a skydive, and now the opportunity has arisen I'm a little nervous but excited at the same time, but it's for some good causes so it's worth it."
The Cyprus Combined Services Parachute Club have donated one of the tandem parachute jumps and subsidised the second in support of the fundraiser.
Donations can be made via the YouCaring.com page, under the fundraiser 'Leoni and Nicola's Jump'.
Shelterbox (www.shelterbox.org) is a UK charity that provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis.
