A hard disk that went missing from the Defence Ministry was recovered on Monday, with the ministry assuring that it did not contain any confidential information.
Police were brought in after a complaint was made that a hard disk had disappeared.
The ministry confirmed the case but said it did not contain any classified information.
"The disk did not contain any documents of the ministry, confidential, classified or otherwise. Therefore there should be no concern that confidential information that could affect national security in any way has been leaked," it said in a written statement.
Defence Minister Fotis Fotiou ordered an inquiry into the disappearance. Earlier on Monday police visited the ministry to investigate the missing hard disk after a complaint was made directly to the chief of police Michalis Papageorgiou. The disk was later recovered, apparently having been taken by a military police conscript.
