NICOSIA – President Anastasiades on Wednesday appointed Odysseas Michaelides as auditor general, to replace Chrystalla Georghadji who takes over as Central Bank governor on April 11. Michaelides heads the internal audit department of the Ministry of Communications.
Irena Georghiadou, a chartered accountant who has worked as an aide to Finance Minister Haris Georgiades was appointed Public Service Reform Commissioner. She takes the post of Emannuela Mousioutta-Lambrianidou who resigned last month in what was seen as the first departure of Diko members from the Anastasiades government in protest at this handling of the Cyprus issue.
Iosifina Antoniou was appointed Equality Commissioner, a new position required under the EU acquis, government spokesman Christos Stylianides said.
Nestoras Nestora will take the place of Theophilos Theophilou as Greek Cypriot representative on the Committee for the Missing. Theophilou had resigned for health reasons.
Dr Toulla Onoufriou was appointed president of Hydrocarbons Company while Eleni Vasiliades president of the public gas company Defa.
Penelope Athinodorou Manti was named chairman of the Cyprus State Fairs Authority and Angelos Loizou chairman of the CTO.
