NICOSIA -The authorities of the Republic of Cyprus are monitoring the course of a tanker, which is suspected of transporting stolen quantities of oil from the Sidra port of Libya, the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday. It said Cyprus, as well as other neighboring countries, received on March 11, 2014 a request by the Government of Libya to assist in the return of the stolen amount of oil from the port of Sidra in Libya.
On March 14, the tanker "Morning Glory", suspected to carry the above oil cargo, was detected 18 nautical miles from the Republic of Cyprus, in international waters.
It is noted that the tanker did not request for authorization to dock in a Cypriot port.
