Limassol Municipality has joined forced with the district's local authorities, government services and the British Bases authorities to stamp out a recent blight of mosquitoes.
The Zakaki-Akrotiri area has been particularly affected but checks were on Wednesday carried out on the wider west Limassol area.
It was decided that the systematic coordinated spraying of the problem areas would continue.
This spraying is currently carried out by the Akrotiri Bases authorities, the Public Health Services, Limassol Municipality and the local authorities.
Limassol Municipality's Pubic Health Service supervisor Demetris Theotis said that although this year's limited rainfall did not encourage the creation of many mosquito breeding grounds, the authorities were keeping a close eye on the situation and would take additional action if it was warranted.
Currently, along with on the ground spraying, the authorities also plan to use eco-friendly sprays released from Forestry Department and British Bases aircraft.
