NICOSIA – Students from 10 high schools in Cyprus will be honoured as first “New Ambassadors for Asylum” over their action on issues related to asylum and political refugees on the island. The students have taken part in interactive asylum seminars and will present their work at a student one-day conference called “New ambassadors for asylum” on Wednesday.
The conference is part of the European action week against racism and will be carried out at the headquarters of the Cyprus Youth Organisation in Nicosia. The students will try to get into the skin of refugees living and working in Cyprus by telling their stories.
They will also bring to light experiences of famous people who were refugees themselves.
