Episkopi community council in collaboration with relevant authorities are promoting a series of actions to create a nature trail with the aim of promoting the area of the Ancient Curium Theatre and its antiquities and attracting more visitors.
The local authority wants this project to be included in the EU Rural Development Programme (Leader) 2014-2020 for the creation of nature and biodiversity tourism infrastructure.
To this end, the community in collaboration with the relevant state authorities has already submitted an application to secure funding for the project from the EU Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
Episkopi community leader Pavlos Pouris said that they have also moved on to the implementation of a plan and it includes a series of small-scale infrastructure projects.
According to the plan, the nature trail will constitute the entry point to the Kokkoniskia area and will run northwest of the Episkopi community, parallel to the old Limassol-Paphos road.
Visitors will walk through rich vegetation, among olive groves, carob trees and encounter various archaeological monuments on their way. The nature trail will end at the Apollona Elati temple on the Curium hill.
The trail will be 4100 metres long and there will be observation points throughout the route as well as benches for tourists and visitors.
