A motorcyclist from Paralimni is in critical condition after slamming into a car on the Cape Greko-Protaras road on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a police announcement, the accident occurred at just after 6pm when the 26-year-old motorcyclist crashed into the car, being driven a man of 47, whilst overtaking. The driver of the car had been turning off the main road to park outside a supermarket when the collision with the 26-year-old occurred. A breathalyzer test on the driver of the car showed that he had not been drinking while a similar test could not be performed on the 26-year-old because he had needed blood urgently.
The victim was rushed to Famagusta District Hospital before being transferred to Nicosia General Hospital due to the seriousness of his injury. According to traffic police, the 26-year-old was not wearing a helmet while he was not insured and his motorbike did not have registration plates. He has reportedly suffered massive internal bleeding as well as numerous injuries around his body.
Both driver of the car is also from Paralimni.
