A Limassol teenager is this morning fighting for his life after being hit by a car last night.
According to traffic police, the youngster – said to be a 19-year-old male – was struck by a car being driven by a 33-year-old woman on Leontiou A road at around 8.45pm. The teenager was rushed by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital before being transferred to Nicosia General Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Hospital doctors say that his condition is “extremely critical” and that he sustained massive trauma to both his head and his lungs.
On Tuesday, Traffic Police Chief Demetris Demetriou said that Europe is in good position to reach the strategic target of halving road deaths between 2010 and 2020. He also said that the police had managed to slightly decrease the number of fatalities on Cyprus’ roads for 2013.
