NICOSIA – Christoforos Fokaides - the former leader of Disy’s youth branch Nedisy - is the new Defense Minister, replacing late Tasos Mitsopoulos who passed away suddenly two weeks ago.
The 1974-born new minister from occupied Famagusta will take the oath on Monday, an official announcement said on Thursday.
Fokaides is a lecturer of politics at the European University in Nicosia and had been accepted for a six-month visiting scholarship at prestigious Yale University in the US. It would have begun next semester.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with Turkish Studies and Politics from the University of Cyprus.
And a Master’s degree in European Politics and Democracy from University of Kent.
