Taxi drivers are not planning any new strike or protest action pending the outcome of a hoped-for joint Communications and Finance Ministry meeting. Speaking to The Cyprus Daily on Thursday, head of the Nicosia taxi drivers' association Akis Demosthenous said the drivers had been left disappointed by the outcome of a meeting with the Finance Ministry. "What we are trying to do now is set up an appointment with the Communications and Finance Ministries together to see what can be done through dialogue," Demosthenous said. He added no new action would be taken by the taxi drivers until then and also because of the Easter period. Taxi drivers across Cyprus staged a protest on Monday, complaining their demands for government help were falling on deaf ears.
