LIMASSOL - Police are on the hunt for two suspects who attempted to rob a home in Limassol but were fought off by the residents – a family of three.
According to Limassol CID Chief Yiannis Soteriades, at around 8.00pm on Tuesday, the wife answered the door after hearing the bell ring and was immediately attacked by two hooded men armed with a handgun and a knife. Her husband and teenage son heard the cries and rushed to the rescue. A violent struggle ensued during which the suspects’ hoods were pulled off. Both men were forced to flee the scene abandoning the blade and gun.
The husband was taken to clinic where he was treated for cuts and bruises but otherwise the family is in good health.
Soteriades said that police are currently examining forensic evidence in an attempt to identify the raiders and confirmed that the handgun was a fake.
