With the slogan “Make Your Cans Count” Microsoft Cyprus together with the organisation “Young Volunteers” invite children and adults to join forces by picking up cans to financially support the Makarios Hospital via the organisation Cans for Kids.
On Saturday, April 26, from 10:00 to 13:00, each of us can contribute to this cause by bringing aluminum cans to the recycling centre of Cans For Kids (Laiki Agora, Nicosia Municipality), in order to be compressed at the processing and compression unit and then sold.
The proceeds will be used to purchase medical equipment specifically for pediatric wards of Makarios III Hospital.
The event will be attended by the Volunteer Commissioner Giannis Giannakis.
With this initiative, Microsoft Cyprus, offers the opportunity for citizens not only to offer something to the children at the wards of Makarios Hospital, which is the central pediatric unit in Cyprus, but also enhances the environmental awareness of citizens and promotes the adoption of daily eco-friendly practices.
Since CANS FOR KIDS’ inception, more than 25 million cans have been collected, and over €260,000 worth of equipment has been donated to the Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia.
The organisation’s contribution has significantly improved the quality of care given to sick children in Cyprus by offering equipment to the pediatric oncology unit, newborns’ care unit, pediatric surgery unit and intensive care unit.
The Cans for Kids ‘compression unit is located in Yiannis Koromia Street, Kaimakli.
