PAPHOS – A teenager was remanded for two days in custody on Thursday after allegedly leading police on a dangerous high-speed car chase in the Paphos district.
According to the police, at around 1.30am on Thursday, officers in a patrol car spotted a pick-up truck without licence plates jump a red light. The officers signaled to the driver who sped up and managed to loose them.
At around 4.00am the pick-up was spotted again in another area of Paphos. A police patrol car attempted to cut off the truck but was crashed into by the pick-up. The vehicle was eventually stopped after an officer blew one of the tires out with his service revolver.
The driver, a 19-year-old Paphos resident who police say has troubled the authorities in the past was, placed under immediate arrest.
