LARNACA – The Larnaca District Court on Tuesday is expected to order two men accused of sexually assaulting two underage girls to stand trial.
According to the police, the Legal Services, following a lengthy meeting on Monday, decided to refer the case to the Assizes and have ordered prosecutors to put forward the request during the suspects’ next remand hearing on Tuesday morning.
The accused - a 35-year-old man from Nicosia and a 57-year-old well known Larnaca businessman - were remanded in custody on May 1 on suspicion of sexually assaulting two girls aged 14 and 15.
The were arrested after the 15-year-old reported to police that she recently met the younger man at his flat in the capital having previously chatted with him on a social networking site. She claims that along with a 14-year-old girl she was held against her will, beaten and raped. She said both girls were then driven to a flat in Larnaca where they were subjected to a second assault which the 59-year-old also took part in.
